Volunteer and Intern Trainings

We offer three training opportunities throughout the year for volunteers and interns wishing to work with clients.

Why are volunteers important?
Without volunteers, Safe Passage would have a difficult time offering and maintaining the type and amount of services needed to help those affected by domestic and sexual violence.

What is an internship?
Internships are offered to currently enrolled college students (for class credit) to allow them the experience of working in a professional setting, thereby putting their knowledge to work in a practical environment.

Do I need experience and training?
Safe Passage conducts periodic trainings for those interested in volunteering or an internship with us. Volunteers and interns interested in having any type of client contact are required to complete a 65+hour training.

Requirements for interns and volunteers:

  • Successful completion of the required 65+ hour training
  • 2 semester commitment for interns; 6 month commitment for volunteers
  • Participation in Medical Advocacy program
  • Provide 12 hours weekly on site
  • Confidentiality
  • Attend monthly volunteer/intern meetings
  • Understand and comply with Safe Passage policies and procedures
