Thank you for your interest in conducting a fundraising event to benefit Safe Passage and survivors in DeKalb County. Your event will directly support our mission to ensure that everyone has the right to live free from violence and abuse through advocacy, intervention, and prevention throughout DeKalb County.

We are grateful for the generous donations from our community members who share our commitment to ending abuse. These donations have made it possible for us to provide free services to survivors since 1981! In addition to donations, by promoting Safe Passage, you are raising awareness about domestic and sexual violence and the services that we provide in an invaluable way!

To help your third party event succeed, Safe Passage will provide the following:

  • Notification of the event on Safe Passage’s social media (Facebook, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn) as well as the monthly newsletter with 30 days notice.
  • An event landing page through Eventbrite and/or Facebook events; you will be responsible for providing this link to your own audience.
  • Brochures, fact sheets, and swag about our programs and services.
  • Safe Passage staff will attend the event, speak about Safe Passage’s mission, and/or accept proceeds (based on availability).
  • Use of your logo and name upon review of event.
  • Thank you letter and tax receipt.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is a third party event?

A third party event is fundraising by a business, organization, or individual, where the beneficiary has no fiduciary responsibilities and little or no staff involvement.

How much advance notice should I provide before doing a fundraiser?

If you do not need us to assist in promoting your event in any capacity, we do not need any notice. Should you need our assistance, here is a guideline: 14 days notice if you would like a Safe Passage representative to speak at your event/attend, 20 days notice if you need a small amount of assistance promoting the event through social media, and 45 days notice if you will need a significant amount of assistance in promoting the event. The earlier you send us information about the fundraiser, logos, wording, etc. the earlier we can begin assisting you in promoting your event.

Will Safe Passage send a speaker to my event?

When requested, we will make every effort to send a staff member to your event, however, we cannot always guarantee that staff will be able to attend. If you would like a representative to speak at or attend your event please give Safe Passage at least 14 days notice.

How should I refer to Safe Passage in our marketing materials and in our event name?

Please refer to your fundraiser as “benefiting Safe Passage,” and not “conducted for,” “sponsored by,” or any other similar terminology. Please do not use Safe Passage logos unless sent by Safe Passage staff member.

What are some fundraising ideas?

An event where proceeds benefit Safe Passage: Walk/run, fitness class, open mic night, trivia, BINGO, paint and sip, crafts, bake sale, donation jar campaign, raffle, silent auction, etc.

You can also have businesses collect donations of necessary items, or ask restaurants to give a certain percentage of sales for a day to benefit Safe Passage.

Can event attendees make a donation online?

Attendees can make a donation directly on our website: https://safepassagedv.org/ways-to-give/
